Embark on a South India family tour, where historic sites unfold before journeying to Mysore’s majestic palace and vibrant markets. Explore the wild beauty of Mudumalai National Park with safaris and a scenic boat ride. Traverse to Ooty, reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, and immerse in its colonial charm, capping off with a picturesque stroll around Ooty Lake. The tour continues through Coonoor, Coimbatore, and Munnar’s tea plantations, ending at the pristine beaches of Mararikulam.


Detailed program

Day 1 – Bangalore

Morning or Evening: Upon arrival at Bangalore International Airport, you will be welcomed by our local representative to start your Family Tour Package to South India and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 – Bangalore / Srirangapatna / Mysore

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Mysore. En route, visit the historical site of Srirangapatna, known for its fortress walls that witnessed resistance against the British in the late 18th century and its alliance with French officers.

Afternoon: Arrive in Mysore and check in at the hotel. Visit the Mysore Palace, an architectural masterpiece blending Indo-Saracenic elements, and explore its magnificent halls, dazzling frescoes, and colorful stained glass.

Late Afternoon: Evening visit to the Devraja Market, capturing the vibrant colors from fresh fruits and vegetables to flower garlands and kumkum mounds.

Day 3 – Mysore / Mudumalai

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Mudumalai National Park. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Paykara in the afternoon, surrounded by sublime Western Ghats landscapes.

Day 4 – Mudumalai

Morning and Afternoon: Safari in Mudumalai National Park in a jeep or canter.

Day 5 – Mudumalai / Ooty

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Ooty, a mountain station reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands. Explore colonial buildings upon arrival.

Afternoon: Visit St. Stephen’s Church, the English cemetery, and Ooty Botanical Gardens. An evening stroll along Ooty Lake with a backdrop of the Nilgiris.

Day 6 – Ooty

Morning: After breakfast, embark on a 16km trek to Kokkal Kota village, passing through dense forests with panoramic views.

Afternoon: Picnic lunch in nature, exploring the cultivated lands of the Toda indigenous tribe.

Late Afternoon: Return to Ooty for a free evening to relax or explore the city for shopping or local cuisine.

Day 7 – Ooty / Coonoor / Coimbatore (by narrow-gauge train)

Morning: Transfer to Ooty station for the famous Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Enjoy scenic views during the journey. Arrive in Coonoor and transfer to Coimbatore by car.

Afternoon: Visit the Adi Yogi site with its remarkable Shiva statue and Dhyanalinga Temple for meditation and spirituality.

Late Afternoon: Free time to explore Coimbatore, a growing metropolis known for its industries.

Day 8 – Coimbatore / Monkey Falls / Munnar

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Munnar, a hill station of Kerala known for its lush green tea estates. Visit Monkey Falls en route.
Afternoon: Upon your arrival in Munnar, check into your hotel. Take some time to unwind, soaking in the peaceful ambiance of this idyllic hill station.
Evening: As the evening descends, step out to explore Munnar’s local markets. These bustling hubs of activity are a treasure trove of aromatic spices and finely curated tea selections.

Jour 9 – Munnar

Morning: After breakfast at your hotel, embark on a half-day guided with your loved ones on a walking excursion into the verdant, misty tea plantations of Munnar. As you roam the emerald hills, you’ll marvel at the breathtaking panorama, where slopes of tea bushes stretch to the horizon. This is the ideal opportunity to capture some stunning photos. Feel the cool, damp air on your skin and the crunch of leaves underfoot as you witness the tea-plucking process, bringing you closer to the heart of Munnar’s tea heritage.
Afternoon: In the afternoon back to your hotel. In the later afternoon visit the Tata Tea Museum. Here, you’ll embark on an informative journey that traces the evolution of tea processing in this region. The museum is housed in a 100-year-old building, nestled within the Nallathanni Estate. It showcases a variety of antiquated tea-rolling machines, including the rudimentary ‘Rotorvane,’ and the original version of the ‘Ctc’ machine. Don’t miss the demonstration that offers an inside look into the entire process of tea making, from leaf picking to final packaging.
Evening: Spend your leisure time at your own pace, soaking in the serene ambiance of Munnar at your hotel.

Day 10 – Munnar / Cochin

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Cochin, a colonial city on the Arabian Sea.

Afternoon: Arrival in Cochin, check-in at the hotel, and a short break. Visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India, and Santa Cruz Basilica, known for its Gothic architecture.

Late Afternoon: Attend a Kathakali dance performance in Fort Kochi, offering a unique cultural experience based on Hindu mythology.

Day 11 – Cochin / Alleppey

Morning: After breakfast, visit Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, blending Indo-Portuguese and Dutch architecture.

Late Morning: Depart for Alleppey, the heart of the Kerala Backwaters.

Afternoon: Board a houseboat for a cruise through the backwaters with lunch served on board.

Late Afternoon: Sail through canals, witnessing rural life and beautiful sunsets.

Day 12 – Alleppey / Mararikulam

Morning: After breakfast, disembark from the houseboat and transfer to Mararikulam.

Afternoon: Check-in at the hotel and have free time to relax on the beach or explore the village.

  • Indian roads vary in quality, but the beauty of the landscapes and the promise of discoveries ahead will soften the sometimes longer-than-expected travel times. The adventure will be all the more authentic!
  • Between April and October, when the heat is intense, remember to stay hydrated. Always carry a water bottle with you.
  • If an elephant ride at Amber Fort is not possible, we’ll offer a similar experience in a nearby village near Jaipur.
  • Note that the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. We’ll adjust the itinerary to allow you to admire this legendary monument on another day.
  • Our itinerary may undergo slight modifications based on changes in transport schedules or hotel availability.
  • Please be aware that drivers in India may not be perfectly bilingual in English. They are selected for their professional and human qualities, knowledge of the routes, and sites to visit.
